ZOOMLION luffing jib tower cranes lift and place steel structures, precast components, and building materials on construction sites where nearby buildings or obstacles leave little room for crane movements. The jib moves up and down to adjust the working radius, so the crane can reach closer to the tower when the jib is raised or farther away when it is lowered. This up-and-down movement is called luffing, and the jib’s angle to the horizontal is the luffing angle. Rather than use a trolley traveling along a horizontal jib, these tower cranes change the jib angle to adjust their reach, while the hoist raises and lowers the hook and its load.

ZOOMLION offers luffing jib tower cranes for high-rise buildings, large public buildings, and projects in densely built city centers, as well as residential, industrial, power, and bridge construction. On these jobsites, loads may need to pass between surrounding structures or reach installation points with limited access. The jib can move to a steeper angle where space is tight or lower to reach farther from the tower. The luffing angle determines the working radius, so the jib’s position needs to match the lifting load, the required lifting height, and the space available for the lift. During multi-crane operation, there must also be enough clearance between neighboring cranes where their working areas overlap.
